Campaign against lowering the age of sex consent

CRAWN Trust is working in partnership with COVAW, Hifadhi Hub and other actors in the campaign against lowering the age of sex consent from 18 to 16, based on the laws recognition of anyone under the age of 18 to be a child. Secondly, consent is valid where the one giving it is appreciative of the consequences arising from engaging in what they consent to.

A person under 18 does not have the capacity to consent. Thirdly, sex could have many detrimental effects to the minors among them interruption to their education and effects on their reproductive health among others. CRAWN Trust is calling upon stakeholders to reject this proposal which was mad by some judges.
